Associate/Associate Director Surveyor - Residential Capital Markets - London

Job Description:

An opportunity exists for a full time Associate/Associate Director level surveyor to join the Residential Capital Markets (RCM) team based in our head office at Margaret Street, W1.

The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team of approximately 40; comprising consultants, valuers, agents and financial analysts. The team deal in large scale residential development and investments, corporate mergers and acquisitions in the residential development sector, as well as advising landowners, institutions and corporates on increasing the value of land portfolios. The immediate team includes approximately five consultants who work across all of these service lines.

The vast majority of time will be spent liaising with two types of clients.

Firstly, we have a retained client who is one of the largest landlords in the UK. We provide ongoing professional advice from within RCM, and also lead and coordinate a much wider Savills team who provide valuation, research and building surveying services.

Secondly, we have retained clients who own portfolios of land with development potential. Our role is asset management and coordinating a much wider Savills team to provide the support the client requires via land agency, valuation, planning, economic development and masterplanning.

Furthermore, we have a range of institutional and corporate clients who are investing in residential developments and investments. The consultants within RCM advise these clients on how to create and extract best value from these assets. Often this work turns into agency services as well as formal valuation services.

As the sector and our team are growing at a rapid pace there are excellent opportunities for career progression. In addition, there are opportunities to learn new skills from colleagues, in particular, development finance, funding methods and financial models. RCM is recognised as an industry leader in this field which creates many opportunities to the right applicant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pricing, valuing and modelling a range of residential assets across the UK, both income producing assets and development projects
  • Advising on the most appropriate development or investment strategy for assets
  • Working with the current Director and Associate Director leading the RCM consultancy service
  • Providing written, graphic or financial information as part of the consultancy service
  • Working directly with clients to meet their requirements and expectations
  • Meeting with a range of clients on a regular basis
  • Carrying out work for other Directors within RCM that meets their requirements and expectations
  • Carrying out comprehensive property, market and legal due diligence enquiries
  • Client care for existing clients

In addition to the tasks described above, the job holder may be required to carry out other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time.

Candidate Profile:

  • MRICS qualified Registered Valuer, with 2-3 years’ experience
  • Experience in providing consultancy verbal advice to clients in the residential or development sector
  • Experience in writing reports on projects in the residential or development sector
  • Proficient in valuation software and cash flows, specifically with MS Excel, Argus Investor and Developer
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent client relationship skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Strategic approach to problem solving
  • A desire to progress and generate new business within the residential and development sectors
  • Full clean driving licence
