Rural Surveyor - Peterborough

Job Description:

We are seeking a Surveyor working within the WOS-CAM team delivering rural land services, principally to Anglian Water in support of their capital programme delivery, which over the next 4 years will see them spend £4.7bn on their regional infrastructure in the form of new water and sewerage sites, water mains and sewers. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Management of land acquisitions and compensation payments relating to the capital programme.
  • Management of land input into client schemes, including overseeing external consultants, managing recommendations and controlling land compensation budgets. 
  • Undertaking direct acquisition and compensation negotiations liaising with land owners and client contractors on site.
  • Scheme gateway budgeting and costing/reporting from plan.
  • Managing and resolving land access issues, complaints and legal issues arising.
  • Directing the client and advising in terms of land status, costs, route optioneering and identifying potential issues.
  • Daily management of costs sheets, payment approval authorisation and budget micromanagement.
  • Routine contact and the making of recommendations to the client
  • Understanding of contract responsibilities, KPI’s and client reporting
  • Developing scheme reporting/budgeting and contract reporting. 
  • Business Development.  Working within the WOS-CAM team and assisting with developing new business streams for existing and future clients
  • Negotiation of rural estate management issues including leases rents and land disposals
  • Based in Savills Peterborough office but with the need to work within local client offices and travel throughout the eastern region.

Candidate Profile:

  • Having a thorough understanding of the Water Industries Act and land compensation values,
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Must work well under pressure and be able to meet tight deadlines
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Determination to deliver high levels of service to both clients and occupiers of the buildings
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy of work
  • Ability to work flexibly and as part of a team but without constant supervision, to be able to plan and prioritise workload
  • Ability to work closely with clients, land owners, consultants and other third parties
  • Maintain a professional manner at all times
  • Enthusiasm to do a high quality job at all times
  • To be customer facing and conscious of client requirements at all times
  • Chartered Rural Surveyor  with experience to suit the role
  • Knowledge of property databases / Microsoft Office
  • Car Driver.
