Senior Planner - Wimborne

Job Description:

An opportunity exists for a qualified Planner within the Planning team based in Wimborne.  The successful candidate will be part of a team of twenty five working closely with Directors and Associate Directors in Wimborne.  The majority of your time will be spent on ongoing planning consultancy including strategic and immediate housing, infrastructure and energy projects.

There are opportunities to undertake Environmental Impact Assessment work, which is a Wimborne planning specialism, and to work on Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects under the Planning Act 2008.

This team sits within the Planning Division.

The Wimborne Planning Team works throughout the UK so an ability and willingness to travel is an advantage.

Key Activities:

  • Providing planning consultancy advice to colleagues and clients
  • Reporting to clients and senior colleagues and keeping in regular contact
  • Attend and report to client at regular project meetings
  • Be capable of dealing with instructions and clients alone after an introductory period
  • Become a single point of contact for clients
  • Developing as an individual to take a more senior role in the team.
  • Ask questions, interact, and discuss objectives and day to day work of your team
  • Organising and attending consultation events related to projects
  • Monitoring policy developments on behalf of the team
  • Provide assistance to team members wherever possible
  • Develop and maintain active communication both within your team and other teams

Candidate Profile:

  • Strong verbal, numerical and report writing skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A team player with leadership potential
  • Good interpersonal and influencing skills
  • MRTPI qualified
  • Practical understanding of Property and or EIA
  • Experience in a similar role (preferably 2 years post qualification) or in Local Government planning
  • Strategic approach to problem solving
  • Driving licence
