Rural Surveyor - Carlisle

Job Description:

This position, based in our Carlisle office, is principally to assist with estate management and professional work carried out for our rural clients throughout the North West.  The role will vary depending on the nature of the work being undertaken by the office.

This is a position which requires high levels of self-motivation and drive to build up detailed rural surveying knowledge and good contacts.  The candidate will be recently qualified or registered for their APC and will be supported and allocated a Supervisor, Counsellor and the relevant training to record valuable experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Estate management focus – private and institutional clients
  • Property management and administration  - including lease renewals, property maintenance and compliance, negotiation of leases and compensation claims among other tasks
  • Preparation of management reports
  • Agricultural and residential lettings
  • Record keeping and terrier maintenance in relation to managed estates
  • Liaison with contractors and estate staff in respect of the maintenance and repair of managed estates
  • General liaison with clients, tenants staff and other stakeholders of managed estates, on a face to face basis as well as via correspondence and on the telephone.
  • In addition to the tasks described above, the candidate may be required to carry out other work as may reasonably be required from time to time

Candidate Profile:

  • Either recently qualified (MRICS) or committed to completing RICS APC and gaining MRICS accreditation. Fellowship of CAAV desirable but not essential. Support will be provided if the applicant wishes to pursue this qualification
  • Articulate, professional and persuasive with good interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Self-starter with proactive and resourceful capabilities
  • Able to problem solve effectively
  • Strong planning and organisation skills and a good communicator
  • Confident networker with the ability to make a good first impression
  • Able to work individually or as part of a team
  • Ability to retain information and follow up all leads
  • Be resilient, adaptable and, above all, keen and enthusiastic
  • Has a full driving licence and has access to drive a car for business purposes
